Mohammed, a deputy superintendent of Police, said that preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was not electrocuted while drying wet clothes on a naked wire.

“The corpse was deposited at the ATBU teaching hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.”
The PPRO added the no marks of violence were observed on the dead body stating that the Case is under investigation to ascertain the actual cause of death.
But When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the ATBU, Zailani Bappah, said that neither he nor the institution had received any official statement from the Police about the incident.
He said that someone called to tell him of the incidence Tuesday night but he was yet to confirm if actually the deceased was a student of the university..

“I contacted the Student Affairs Officer of the institution but he could not confirm the story. He said he was not aware and had not gotten any official statement from the police.
“We have to ascertain the actual identity of the deceased to know if he is our student as it is being said because there are many people who claim to be our students but they are not.”
He said that if he gets any details or confirmation that the deceased was a student of the institution, “I will call to tell you.”
