Kuje council chair inspects road projects

Kuje area council chairman, Hon. Abdulahi Danladi Galadima, has begun the inspection of 1.3 kilometre road rehabilitation projects in preparation to mark his 100 days in office and to ease the movement of goods and services in the area.
Galadima, during the inspection, said the rehabilitation projects had become necessary to keep the environment clean and to fulfil one of his social services to the people.
The chairman said the essence of the road rehabilitation was to ease difficulties faced by motorist on the roads in the area were no longer motorable, thereby making life difficult for the people.

“One of my major campaign promises was to provide social services to the people and ensure that the environment was kept clean at all times,” he said.
The chairman said, without good roads there “can’t be development in any community, especially areas so rounded with commercial activities.”
According to him, the Council has ample investment opportunities and it is necessary to ensure that the environment is conducive for investors.
“When you have good road network, it open doors for industrialist and investors, particularly those interested in tourist resorts and recreational centres.”
He added that Kuje Area Council had the highest landmass in the entire Territory that was suitable for setting any kind of industry, but that without good roads, there wouldn’t be development.
“As a developing Area Council with daily influx of people, banking, and other social services, there is the need to have good roads.”
He said his administration met huge liabilities incurred from the previous administration, but would do his best to ensure the development of the Council.
Earlier, the engineer handling the project, Mr. Andrew Onoja, said the first phase of the project had been completed of which the bad roads were filled with hardcore and laterals.
He added that the second phase would include street lights and other necessary road facilities to keep the area clean.
