Kawo Rotary Club donates foodstuff to JMA orphanage

The Rotary Club of Kawo, Kaduna, has donated various food items and pampers to Jamiyyar Matan Arewa Orphanage in Kaduna.

The food items donated included rice, beans, semovita, garri, millet, noodles, tomato paste, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tea, food drink, condiment, biscuits, and soft drinks and pampers.

President of Rotary Club of Kawo, Kaduna, Rotarian Lawrence Chukwu Offodile, said they are at the orphanage to support the orphans and make them happy.

He said, “We are here to give back to society by donating food items to the orphans. Rotary Club is all about service above self.

“When you don’t give back to the less privilege, if they don’t hurt you, they would come back to hurt your children. We had to mop up food items from the club and from individuals to donate to the children. It would be a continuous thing. Aside the club matter, I would definitely pay another visit to the orphanage to donate to the children again.”

President Jamiyyar Matan Arewa, Hajiya Rabi Musa Saulawa, expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club, adding that Jamiyyar Matan Arewa was established in 1963 and had been coordinating the orphanage, which was created in 1965.

“On behalf of Jamiyyar Matan Arewa, I want to thank Rotary Club Kawo and Rotary Club of Kaduna, of which I’m a member. Rotary Club has always been a part of Jamiyyar Matan Arewa. That one storey building was built with part of Rotary Club fund and the hall here was built by Rotary Club. We are one big family.”
