Kano: Fire razes BUK, valuable materials burnt


Fire on Tuesday caught the department of accounting in the Bayero University Kano (BUK), living many materials burnt.

The fire occurred at noon and razed the accounts department which is located at the new site of the university in Kano and valuable materials have been damaged.

Official of the university, Mr Lamara Garba Azare, who is the principal Assistant registrar in a text message to Blueprint Correspondent said, “The incident occurred in the afternoon. No casualty  recorded and no vital documents affected.

“The fire which affected only one office was immediately put off by men of the University Fire services. Normal activities have since resumed.

The acting Vice Chancellor, and Deputy Vice Chancellor (administration) Professor Haruna Wakili who visited the site commended the timely arrival of  fire fighters which arrested the situation.
