Following the death sentence passed on nine people, who were found guilty of blaspheming the Prophet Muhammad by a Sharia Court in Kano, a renowned Islamic Scholar, Ustaz Sulieman Salihu Koki, has described the death sentence as a good omen for Islam.
Speaking to newsmen in Kano yesterday, Koki said the verdict would also serve as deterrent to those who were having the impression that they could go to the extent of blaspheming the Prophet of Islam and go without due punishment, adding that the death sentence was effected within the confines of Sharia law, which no Muslim could ever dispute.

He said it was absolutely ridiculous and a clear case of apostasy for a true Muslim to make an inflammatory statement against the Prophet of Islam and that shedding one’s blood for committing such an obnoxious act was the most appropriate thing to be carried out.
According to him, passing the death sentence on the culprits would douse tension within the Muslim communities all over the country and calm frayed nerves, saying no one would ever be kept in doubt that the Sharia law was the best way of punishing any Muslim who had run foul of the law.
He said: “To me the death sentence was a source of great jubilation and I have no iota of regret or sympathy to the nine people sentenced to death. They should be made to pay a heavy price for their despicable act.
I can’t imagine how we could live in peace with such a blasphemy committed by those who stupidly call themselves Muslims and went ahead to besmirch the sanctity of the most revered Prophet of God “he stressed.
He called on the Muslim Ummah worldwide to condemn the act and pray to God to punish all those who had committed similar acts in the past with the hottest place in hell.
