Jos polo tourney: Malcomines clinch 4th governor’s cup, now 2022 champions

An outstanding polo player, Hamisu Buba, has been crowned the most valuable player of the prestegious Governor’s cup, as three times consecutive winners Malcomines polo team defended their trophy for four times.

The final match of the 2022 Jos International Polo tournament, held Monday evening at the late Gen. Usman Katsina Polo filed.

It also featured 2021 runners up Keffi Pony’s against defending champions Malcomines polo team of Jos.

It was a thrilling encounter as great national and international polo players displayed fantastic skills to entertain first class Emirs of Bauchi, Wase, Dass, House of Reps. deputy speaker Ahmad Idris Wase, amongst thousands of spectators. 

The team play of Malcomines’s +14 handicap, Argentine players – Fernando Munaz, Aleyo Aramburu, captain Murtala Laushi and skillful Hamisu Buba, subdued the opposing Keffe Pony’s +14 handicap Hon. Ahmad Wadada led +14 handicap, Nigerian professionals, Abdulmalik Badamasi, Murtala Aliyu and Argentine skillful Santiago Murambru to 9-3 goals defeat.

The Kaduna Fifth Chukka polo team subdued Lintix 13 – 5 and half goals, to clinched the runners up title for 2022.

The NASCO Cup was won by Babale Farms, while the Imani Cup, was won by Trappco polo team.
