Jigawa SIEC fixes LG election for June 26


The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) has fixed
Saturday 26, June 2021 to conduct local government councils elections.

The Resident Electoral Commission (REC), Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Roni, announced this in Dutse Tuesday, at a press conference and meeting with all party stakeholders.

He said the commission has concluded necessary arrangements to
conduct the 2021 local government councils’ elections in accordance
with its mandates under section 10 (1) and 64 (1) of the JISIEC Laws
Cap. J19 laws of Jigawa state 2012,

“In that regard, I’m happy to inform you that as circulated in the national dailies, Saturday June 26, 2021, has been fixed  by the commission for holding the local government councils’ elections in the state,” he further stressed.

Alhaji Ibrahim said, “this commission by its mandate and according to the law, has a duty to create a level playing ground for all political parties and candidates that may wish to participate in the forthcoming local councils’ election.”

He said that based on the commission’s detailed timetable of activities, the sale of nomination forms would commence on 12th May and end on the 26th of the same month 2021, while verification of candidates  sponsored by political parties to contest elections would be conducted from 13th  to 27th of  May, 2021.

While assuring of their commitment to conduct a free and fair election, Alhaji Adamu Roni urged stakeholders to join hands with the commission in abiding by the rules and regulations.
