Jigawa reiterates commitment to prudence in public service

Jigawa state government has reiterated its resolve to ensure prudent utilisation of the state resources in the delivery of  public services.
The Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Tahir, made this known while declaring open a one-week training workshop on advance and middle cadre financial management course for accountants and auditors of the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning yesterday.

Tahir revealed that government had introduced performance appraisal mechanism; peer review mechanism, as well as measures to strengthen the current use of annul performance evaluation report that has been the practice while promoting the senior officers to the next grade level.
This was contained in a press release signed by Ismaila Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer to the state’s Head of civil service.
He disclosed that the present administration attached great importance to human resource development which had led to the introduction of programmes, services and activities that would improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Service.

The Head of Service also revealed that government had introduced a two-day training programme for all categories of civil servants who were due for promotion to face the challenges of high responsibilities.
He enjoined the participants to be the agents of change by accepting the policies of cost savings as well as ensuring value for money.
He called on the participants to pay more attention to all the deliberations which would be of great importance to them and the state.
