Jigawa recruits 1,393 teachers

Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, has said 1,393 school teachers were recruited in 2018 while screening of 4,000 others under the J-teach programme was on going to comply with the out of school federal government’s programme.

Governor Badaru stated this Thursday at the flag-off and launch of “Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) ” held at the Manpower Development Institute (MDI) Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.

He said the programme was timely and mostly appropriate in view of the fact that reducing in the number of out of school children is one of the 10 pillars of the present administration’s strategic plan.

Also speaking, the Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, said the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) became effective on 22January 2018 with the commencement of implementation processes at the federal government level.

He said, “An estimate of 10 million children are presently roaming the streets across the country while Jigawa is one of the worst affected by the menace, followed by Rivers, Niger, Oyo and Ebonyi states respectively.”
