Policemen on duty at the World Bank area of Owerri at the weekend rejected a man in his late 20s, Monday Nwafor from Irete in Owerri West LGA, who was caught moving away with another man’s commercial bicycle earlier parked in front of a shop.
It was after several pleas from those who caught the bike thief that the officers on duty at the police station decided to accept him, but on condition that they should report on Monday.
Our correspondent gathered that the policemen had preferred that the mob administered jungle justice on him by killing him instantly, instead of bringing him to the station and wasting their time keeping him in the station because of the fear of being attacked by his colleagues.
