Ikwerre Day: Fubara preaches love, togetherness

Rivers state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has expressed the need for Rivers people to love one another and speak positively in order to galvanise the state as one entity.

Governor Fubara expressed this while speaking during the 24th Ikwerre National Day of Thanksgiving, organised by Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide at the Rivers State Christian Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt, Tuesday.

Governor Fubara, who spoke through his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, said there was nothing as good as love and togetherness, adding that when the people come stronger together as one, loving and caring for one another, the stste would be.

According to the State Chief Executive, “There is nothing like being together, we are a family and nothing will separate this family, we will live together with joy and greatness”.

Governor Fubara maintained that he recognised the positive role of Ogbakor Ikwerre over the years, stressing that they have shown capacity to pull themselves together not only in Rivers State but all over the world.

“In the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, you fly the flag of Nigeria, you are indeed a formidable force nobody can ignore. In the spirit of Christmas, we should go home with a word of peace, love, happiness, togetherness and forgiveness,” the governor stressed.
