Ibrahim assumes office as BCO national coordinator, sues for calm

The newly appointed national coordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO), Mallam Gidado Ibrahim,Tuesday assumed office with a call to members of the president’s support group and the general public to disregard claims that he ceased being member of the BCO.

The BCO had on Sunday announced the appointment of Ibrahim as the new national coordinator, following the suspension of Alhaji Danladi Pasali, the erstwhile national coordinator over alleged abuse of office.

In a statement issued Tuesday by the principal staff officer of the new national coordinator, Safiu Manseur, Ibrahim urged members of the group to disregard in totality claims by the suspended national coordinator that he remains national coordinator of the group.

He said, “Pasali is just trying to mislead the general public and members of the group into believing that he is still in charge. But we call on our members and the teeming public to disregard his antics as Ibrahim has since assumed office and is set for the commissioning of the organisation’s new office and subsequent movement of the group into the edifice.”

On claims that Ibrahim had moved to the Presidential Support Committee (PSC) as the director of communications and strategic planning, Manseur stressed that membership of a political organisation does not exempt one from being a member of another organisation, especially when they are all working for a common goal.

“The Presidential Support Committee and Buhari Campaign Organisation are like two sides of a coin working for the same purpose. So, there is no law that says Ibrahim being a member of the Presidential Committee should not be a member of the BCO,” he noted.

BCO further warned Pasali to stop using the Inspector General of Police and other law enforcement agencies to intimidate or harass its members Ibrahim.

Until his appointment, was the director of communications and strategic planning of the PSC.
