Nigerian fashion house, IBCouture has its mind set on becoming a global fashion brand that engenders sustainable empowerment of talented local tailors.

Founded in 2016, by Anthony Iboro, the design house was formally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2017, as a fully operational company.

In the six years of its existence, IBCouture is gradually establishing itself to be a reckoning force in fashion styling and consultation that fosters self-expression amongst its clientele. At same time, dedicated to engendering sustainable livelihood for talented local tailors through collaboration.

to thrive and expand, ultimately contributing to economic growth and empowerment.

As things stand now, Anthony Iboro and IBCouture , are poised to be a driving force, inspiring self-expression, and authenticity, while promoting the values of dignity and confidence and making an impact in communities. With their global aspirations and unwavering commitment to empowering individuals, the future is undoubtedly bright for this visionary fashion icon and his brand.

In the spirit of inclusivity, IBCouture has initiated a programme aimed at providing free clothing to individuals who may be unable to afford quality clothing. This initiative fosters a sense of dignity, self-confidence, and belonging within their community. Iboro firmly believes in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.

“We’re dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Iboro said.

“We’ve championed talented local tailors by collaborating with them to produce some of our collections. This not only supports their livelihood but also preserves traditional craftsmanship. Furthermore, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality clothing. That’s why we have initiated a programme where we provide free products to individuals who are unable to afford them. 

“By doing so, we are fostering a sense of dignity, self-confidence and belonging within our community. Through these efforts, we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

On the brand’s future, the founder, who is inspired by colleague and friend, the popular Nigeria fashion designer, Yomi Casual, said, “In five years, I envision IBCouture as a global fashion styling leader, known for empowering individuals worldwide through curated selections and personalized virtual consultancy. Our brand will inspire self-expression, collaborating with influencers and designers to set trends while maintaining our commitment to authenticity and individuality.”

A graduate of Biochemistry, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), with professional certificates from the Nigeria Institute of Safety Professionals, and Sean Cussons Business School, Iboro has always been drawn to colours, patterns and aesthetics. 

As grew older, he began experimenting with his wardrobe, mixing and matching pieces, eventually assisting family members and friends with their styling choices. The positive impacts and response to his ‘little’ adjustments and service boosted his confidence and solidified his decision to begin studying fashion trends and styling, and eventually pursuing a career as a fashion stylist. 

“My goal is to help others discover the power of clothing and styling. This actually helps to shape how 

they present themselves to the world. Every individual’s unique journey and story deserve to be told through their personal style, and I am thrilled to be a part of that transformation,” said Iboro. 

While Nigeria’s fashion industry has witnessed an upsurge of young and talented designers who are pushing the boundaries of creativity. These emerging designer like Anthony Iboro, are known for their innovative and daring designs, breaking away from conventional styles and embracing avant-garde fashion. They are often inspired by global fashion trends while adding a distinctive Nigerian flair to their work. Platforms like Lagos Fashion Week and Arise Fashion Week have given these designers the visibility and recognition they deserve, allowing them to compete on the global stage.

Iboro has had the privilege of styling luxury clients for high-profile events and occasions, crafting memorable looks that make a statement. His work extends beyond just clothing; it’s about creating an indelible impression through style. 

One of his proudest accomplishments, he said was shipping his handpicked fashion pieces to customers across the globe – from New York to Canada, Australia to Malawi. 

The fashionista who believes that a person’s wardrobe is an intricate reflection of their inner identity as it speaks volumes about who they are as individuals, with fashion being a vehicle for self-expression and connection to the external world.

He strongly believes that the way one dresses can make all the difference in how he\she feel – from inspiring confidence to boosting moods – making it undeniably important when navigating life!

According to him, ‘Our clothing is a reflection of our inner thoughts and emotions. Even from a psychological perspective, demonstrating that the way we dress can have considerable impacts on how others perceive us as well as our own self-confidence.

He defines fashion as an ‘art which provides an opportunity to be creative and express oneself authentically and also allows for powerful communication which speaks volumes about who we are without uttering a single word! The clothes we wear are a reflection of our personal values, attitudes, and beliefs, and can even influence the way we perceive ourselves and others.

According to Iboro, “My work has fashion enthusiasts worldwide. I must say that each item is curated with care to match individual tastes and preferences. I have also been privileged to style luxury clients, creating memorable looks for high-profile events and occasions,” he concluded.
