Contrary to a widely circulated rumour that the Kano state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Wakili has been transferred from Kano to Zamfara state, the Police Commissioner has confirmed to the general public that he still remained the Commissioner in charge of Kano.
Dispelling the rumour in an interview with Arewa Radio in Kano Tuesday, Wakili said as far as he was concerned, he was ever ready to discharge his responsibility of maintaining law and order with diligence, gravitas and courage adding that “no amount of mudslinging and negative spin could ever cow him into submission.”
According to him, his mission of putting Kano on the right track was irreversible as he was determined to descend heavily on any one who hide under whatever pretext to breach peace.
He said, “it is the constitutional responsibility of the Police to safeguard the sanctity of the laws governing the conduct of every citizen without acceding to vested interest or primordial considerations.”
He however stated that he had been inspired to execute his assignment with great Spirit of courage and valour knowing that he had sworn to the glorious Quran on his readiness to be firm, and maintain absolute neutrality.
