In an effort to bring positive change to the life of a common man in the state, Brain Builders Youths Development Initiatives, in collocation with North East Youths Initiative for Development and Yobe Network of Civil Society Organisations, has Saturday organised a one day active citizens town hall meeting on transparency, accountability and good governance in in the state.
The event which featured launching of the citizens accountability, toolkit and deliberation on citizen charter of demands (education, health and Youth development) took place at the local government’s multi purpose hall in Damaturu.
In his welcome address,Yobe state coordinator, Brain Builders Youths Development Initiatives, Comrade Usman Adamu Muhammad, said the programme was designed as part of thier process strategy to see that citizens voice are part of the decision making process in the state.
He stated that,”Citizens have a critical role to play in talking of governance,and we decided to emphasize on education, healthcare as well as development as we understand that these are part if the government agenda”.
In his good will massage, the Permanent Secretary Yobe state Ministry of Health,bMuhammad Jawa, commended the organisers of the programme for the training stressing that the ministry of health in the state is ready to support and collaborate with the youths in the state in other to move the state to the greater hight.
In his remarks,Yobe State Civil Society Organisation (NYCSO),Comrade Baba Shehu, represented by Comrade Mohammed Baba KuchiChi,Shehu said,the gathering reflects the collective commitment to building a stronger and more responsible community that thrives on open dialogue, ethical conduct, and effective leadership.
“As we engage in meaningful discussions throughout this town hall meeting, let us remember that our collective efforts have the power to drive tangible change.By sharing our perspectives,asking tough questions, and working collaboratively, we contribute to the betterment of our community,”.
Earlier in his brief remarks, the executive director,North East Youths Development for Initiative,Comrade Dauda Mohammed Gombe said,this is the right time to start such a great move in the state as the government is new and just started.
