Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has been condemned for calling for the resignation of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr. Lawal David Babachir.
The call was made by the Nigeria Civil Society Desk (NCSD), in a statement in Abuja.
The body also advised leaders of activist groups, seeking to serve other people’s purposes or whims to beware of the impression they are making about civil society activism in the country.

The position was made known in a statement yesterday by the group’s National Secretary and National Coordinator, Ijewa Zeb Obioma and Emeh Friday Eleojo respectively.
They castigated Fayose for revisiting the issue on a mere account of an allegation that is yet to be proven or ascertained by the relevant agencies duly instituted to do such jobs.
“In as much as we reserve some respect for Governor Ayodele Fayose for his outspokenness and as a Nigerian statesman, we decry his recent rabble rousing attitude where everything has become a topical issue for him.
“Probably, the ovation he received from his ilk in his recluse Ekiti state for his undue attacks at President Muhammadu Buhari has started getting into his head.

We insist that there are ways to investigate and ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the overblown allegations by the Nigeria Senate against the SGF; and we are sure that those upon whom it reposes to conclude on the job are not sleeping.
“We, therefore, condemn in totality this unhealthy attitude of seeking to keep the Nigeria polity in overheat just in effort to find excuses for cheap blackmail of the government,” the group said.
Condemning the role of the activist group, NCSD said: “We recognise that all voices cannot always be the same at the same time, but we insist that sound reasoning and adequate information should be the primary consideration of any body or group seeking to contribute to such national issue.”
