Gov Emmanuel visits victims of election violence at UUTH

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has paid an unscheduled visit to victims of election violence who are currently receiving treatment at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) Uyo, the state capital.

The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, on Sunday said the aim of the visit was to let the patients know that government is aware of their predicament and assured them that the state government will get Justice and relief for them.

Addressing newsmen after the visit, the SSG described the sight of the victims as “disturbing and regrettable.”

He said : “I have just emerged from the emergency Ward, where I went to see for myself, the disturbing level that the APC have reduced themselves to.

“Like the little girl I saw, that girl is not even up to voting age. Just to transfer that anger, that venom and disappointment of defeat, they needed to do what they’ve just done to that innocent child.

“So our duty as a government is to respond to threats against the safety of lives and property of every Akwa Ibomite. Our people must feel safe and secured”.
