Gombe monarch gets national peace award from Pastors



The Forum of Pastors for Peace and Reconciliation in recognition has give a National Award of Ambassador of Peace to Enger. Saleh Muhamma, Mai Kaltungo over his role in fostering peace in Gombe State.


Our correspondent reports that the award presentation ceremony was held in Kaltungo town of Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State.Religious leaders from Abuja and traditional leaders from Gombe and Adamawa States were in attendance to witness the occasion.While presenting the award, Bishop Fred Samuel, the National President of the forum said the award was given to Alh. Sale Muhammadu for his role in promoting peace irrespective of religious and tribal leanings. Samuel charged Nigerians to emulate the lifestyle of Alh. Muhammadu, by seeking peace and tolerating one another for the good of the country.Gov. Inuwa Yahaya who spoke through his deputy, Dr. Manasseh Jatau said he was not surprised at the award, stressing that the Mai Kaltungo is a man of peace.Yahaya lauded the roles of traditional leaders in fostering and sustaining the prevailing peace in Gombe.

The governor, however, decried the neglect of culture and indigenous languages, adding that everyone should strive to maintain the cultural heritage of societies for posterity.Speaking after receiving the award, Alh. Sale Muhammadu emphasised the need for Peace and tolerance while charging traditional leaders to always maintain connection with their people towards addressing issues that may threaten peace in their domains.

In his sermon, the Guest Speaker of the occasion, Bishop Pwandeno Jediel, Senior Pastor, Tabernacle of Faith Ministries, stressed that peace was at stake in the country.Jediel stated that peace remained the platform for any nation to achieve its goals and objectives, adding that no nation could prosper under insecurity.According to him, God is not happy whenever there is war and bloodshed on earth; as His agenda for man is peace and goodwill to one and another.Alh. Saleh Muhammad, who is the fourth  Mai Kaltungo was enthroned as the Mai Kaltungo in March 1999 and upgraded to the highest monarchical rank (1st class).
