Garun-Malam district head tasks leaders on service delivery

District Head of Garun-Malam  and a prominent member of Kano Emirate Council, Alhaji Abubakar Gwadabe Buhari, has called on political officers holders and leaders in the position of authority to consider the issue of service as their cardinal thrust, adding that failing in that regard was a failure of democracy.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the launch of the second phase of Participatory Community Service Management System at the instance of M4D, a DFID-funded project, in Garun-Malam town of Kano state yesterday, Buhari said the launch of the programme had become an impetus for leaders to buckle up.

He said the M4D had built a strong reputation of Community service which had cut across all the frontiers of human development stressing that   the traditional institutions was fully behind any course aimed to develop the potentials of those willing to excel in every field.
He said Participatory Community Service Management System, would inspire and ginger political office holders accountable to the electorate as they would be opportune to channel their grievances and needs in a sophisticated way.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman, Garun-Malam local government council, Alhaji Saadu Abashe, stressed the need for indigenes of the area to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the system to channel their grievances to the local council through Community Based Organisations (CBOs) for proper action to be taken.

He said the major objective of his administration as regards M4D’s initiative in entrenching the system was for the DFID-funded project to focus attention on education, health and water sanitation pointing out that the areas he had mentioned were the focal point of any society willing to develop.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Nasiru Sule Garo, expressed the resolve of the Kano state government in supporting any move to better the lives of the common man.
Garo, who was represented by an official in the Ministry, Malam Garba Bello Ibrahim, stressed the need for effective collaboration between Community Based Organisations and notable organs of government for grievances and needs of the common men to be known.
