Jigawa warns c’ttee on mass wedding on partisanship

Jigawa state government has warned members of the local government committees on mass wedding of divorcees and widows to henceforth desist from using politics in the selection process of couples.
The    Special Adviser to the state governor on Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sheik Muhammad Mujitaba  Kwalam sounded the warning, while inaugurating  local governments   committees for the exercise.

He said that the programme was meant for Jigawa indigents and that reside in the state, saying that they should be careful in the selection process and avoid political affiliation.
He said that committees, were drawn from the leadership of district heads of the governments, added that other members will be drawn from Hisbah boards, divisional police officers, civil defense, among
others .
Sheik  Mujitaba said thorough  blood screening of couples would be done by each committee so as  to avoid  mixing those with Hiv/Aids, or other contagious, stating further that the committees were given 50 to 60 days to complete the screening exercises.

The special adviser announced that the state government would shoulder the responsibility of the marriage, such as paying dowry, purchase furniture, cooking utensils, among other household items needed by the brides.
Ustaz Muhammad Mujitaba gave 12 conditions which must be fulfilled by the couples before the marriage could take place.
Responding on behalf of the members of the committee, the Hisbah commander of Kafin Hausa local government Ustaz Abdullahi Kafi Hausa, thanked the government for giving them such challenging assignment and assured that they would do  their best to deliver.
