Center for Development and Empowerment Foundation in collaboration with the Grassroots Development and Empowerment Foundation has trained journalists on sensitising communities on Tuberculosis.

The NGOs trained about 15 journalists from Ebonyi and Anambra states respectively.

The training which took place at Danic Hotels, Enugu, was with the support of Stop TB Partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Training the journalists, the foundations noted that the society lack information about tuberculosis, especially those dwelling in the rural areas.

In his presentation, Professor Daniel Oshi, technical lead and founder of Center For Development and Empowerment Foundation (CDRH), urged journalists to develop a working plan in order to reach out to communities on tuberculosis.

“The aim of the workshop was to ‘create an enabling environment for improved TB case finding through strengthening women/girls organisations and TB CSOs led gender transformative  and rights based approaches to TB programming.”
