Focus Africa appoints executives to head international forum 

Mrs. Alayingi Uduak Sylva Tuesday officially launched the Focus Africa Women Forum and inaugurated the leadership at Abuja Intercontinental Hotel.

Hajiya Mariam Salihu Ibrahim was appointed president while Hajiya Nana-Aisha Abu Ali emerged vice president, administration, Dr. Getrude Amba Inyang, Dr. Oluwakemi Oladayo Kuforiji, Dr. Juliet Hassana Okibayi Muoneme, Anuri Fidelia Obijiaku and Zainab Buba Galadima were appointed vice presidents for different regions.

Similarly, Mrs. Lilian Elvis Abuyere was appointed director of projects and Dr. Hannatu Oyarazi Ovosi, director of health.

The founder of Focus Africa Series, Sucex Bright, said over the years, Focus Africa Women Forum, an initiative of Focus Africa Series, has executed several projects while bringing together unique collection of leaders from business, government, media and entertainment, artisans and market women from 27 countries, to promote entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, gender diversity and break all bias faced by women in different spheres of life.

“The organisation has provided platforms that continuously help women re-imagine, rebuild, and reset the pathways of change to unleash the power within them,” Bright said.

While launching the Focus Africa Women Forum in Abuja, Mrs. Sylva, wife of the Bayelsa state gubernatorial candidate, stated that the platform would bring together accomplished women who will meet with the emerging ones on a quarterly basis to address challenges faced by women in the formal and informal sectors across Africa, including issues bordering on poverty, inequality, and access to financial services.
