FG trains Bauchi stakeholders on peace, conflict prevention 

 

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Thursday, trained security personnel, civil society organisations and other relevant stakeholders in Bauchi state on peace, conflict prevention, resolution and management to enhance social culture in communities.

Speaking at the commencement of the training, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Nasir Sani Gwarzo, explained that the capacity building workshop is to provide a platform for strengthening the tracking and monitoring of social vices regarding crimes and criminalities with a view to improving synergy and cooperation in the implementation of National Security Networking in Nigeria.

Represented by the Director of Social Development, Mr Taiwo Ademola, the permanent secretary said the training was part of the implementation of the ministry’s social inclusion and protection programmes to enhance national security networking, evaluation and monitoring in Nigeria in order to overcome the factors threatening National Peace and Security that invariably affect national development.

“The aim of this workshop is to produce a critical mass in knowledge that will encourage peace and security networking among relevant stakeholders In line with international best practices, and come out with a strong communique to back it up.

In a key note address, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Community Relations, Babayo Kesa described the training as timely as the importance of peace to societal development cannot be over emphasised.
