The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), Kogi state chapter has commended the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, for maintaining and sustaining the template that gave a smooth process to the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and Civil Defense.

At a press conference held in Lokoja Tuesday , the state chairman of the congress, Comrade Alfa Ebune , called on federal government to extend the laid down recruitment template to ministries, agencies and parastatals in order to eliminate bickering, racketeering and maneuvering associated to recruitment in the recent past.

The youth leader added that the process has rekindled hope in the minds of Nigerian youth that without the influence of god fatherism they cannot be employed into the federal civil service .

“The ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Immigration Service is commendable. Youth from the grassroots who in the past cannot dream of having opportunities in the service are now at the verge of becoming cadets into the Immigration Service without any sentiment.

“We are appealing to the federal government to extend this process of recruitment to all government organs and be maintained and sustained in the interest of Nigerian youth who do not know or have asses to the people at the top,” Ebune stated.

Commending the dexterity and the commitment of the director and secretary of the Civil Defence, Federal Fire Service , Immigration and Correctional Service Board , Alhaji Saleh Al-Hassan Yakmut , said the state chairman, NYC, described him as a public servant who believes in integrity , transparency and honesty in his dealing with the general public.

“Yakmut has brought a lot of innovative ideas and transformation to the board. We all know what happened in the past where the board was bedeviled with crises as a result of job racketeering, but under the leadership of the current secretary of the board the trend has changed for better as youth from the grassroots who don’t have godfathers benefited from every recruitment conducted by the board.

“Some of these efforts have brought credibility to the Ministry of Interior as we have observed based on our independent investigation exercise on public servants, most especially those at the federal ministries, parastatals and agencies.

“This our personal assessment has singled out Alhaji Saleh Al-Hassan Yakmut as a civil servant with a difference. He has shown integrity, leadership quality and humility in the discharge of his duty as a public servant,’’ he stated.
