Female boarding schools resumption: An open letter to Governor Masari

I am optimistic that the recent resolution by the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Bello Masari to reopen of all female Boarding schools to on Day System
Basis to nearby Schools of their locations/residence on Wednesday 24th March, 2021, after closing them for over two months as a result of Banditry and abduction of Government Science Secondary School Kankara’s students will bring back the lost glory of our education system in the state.

In a statement signed by Malam Sani Danjuma Suleiman
Public Relations Officer for Hon. Commissioner of Education Katsina State further stated that the state government had directed the re-opening of the following boarding Schools: Government Unity Secondary School Malumfashi; SUNCAIS Katsina; Government Girls Secondary School Dutsin Safe Katsina; Government Girls Arabic Secondary School Dutsinma; Government School for the Deaf Malumfashi and Government School for the Blind Katsina on Sunday 28th Match, 2021 for the continuation of 2020/2021 academic session.

Though there was no specific arrangements announced to be made for ensuring adequate security of lives and properties of both the returning students and management staff of these Schools to be reopening soon but I want to make an observation and suggestions to Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Aminu Bello Masari that there is need to entensify efforts in deploying security personnel to these Schools who will remain permanent to protect the students from any security uncertainty in that regards.

The host communities of these schools have tremendous roles to play in bringing any strange movement by some people or group of people within the visinity of these Schools to security agencies ahead of time for them to take proactive measures on them.

The school managers should also give all the relevant and necessary unflinching support to the state government in the area of feeding Information on any obstacles they have realised that it might affect their schools in time particularly the issue of insecurity or any other attempt by some undeserable elements that could cause unrest among students.

The security agencies particularly police, NSCDC and army should adhere with the state government efforts and work within the ambit of the law by ensuring anyone found wanting or abating Banditry in the state should be arrested and brought to book for justice to prevail.

I want every good citizens of our dear state to remain calm and resolute in spiritual supplications to Almighty Allah the Omnipotent, Gracious and Merciful to end Banditry and other criminality bedivilling the state, Northwest, North central and Nigeria at large.

Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria, Katsina State, Malumfashi Local Government Council and I pray Allah to end the insecurity bedivilling our Country for peace to thrive.

Sanusi Muhammad, Burdugau G’ Malumfashi Local Government Council of Katsina State.
