Fear grips Paul Emeka as police enforces S/Court judgement

Palpable fears have enveloped the camp of embattled General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Rev. Paul Emeka, as police last Friday invaded his residence to recover a vehicle belonging to Evangel University. Following the police invasion, priests and some members of the church loyal to the factional leader yesterday expressed fears about the security of Rev Emeka as the police withdrew official security details attached to his official quarters at Independence Layout, Enugu, on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 9, Umuahia, Abia state. It was gathered that some police men from Zone 9 last Friday came to the official residence of the Rev with the Bursar of Evangel University, a private institution established by Assemblies of God Nigeria, with the aim of recovering an official bus of the school parked at Emeka’s residence by the bursar, Mr Paul Okereke but were met with strong resistance from ardent followers of Rev Emeka. Following the resistance, the police command was said to have ordered that security details posted to Emeka’s official residence be withdrawn instantly. One of the aides to Rev Emeka, Rev Richard Akwa, told newsmen that most of the domestic staff and other workers attached to the official residence of Paul Emeka have deserted the house for fear of unjust arrest. Blueprint learnt that the mission of the police is to take away the official school bus of Evangel University, which the school bursar, Mr Paul Okereke parked at the official residence of Emeka. The aide disclosed that Emeka, who was not in the house during the fisticuff last Friday, was yet to return to his house for fear of embarrassment. The Police Public Relations Officer of Zone 9, Jane Egwu, when contacted on phone, confirmed that the command detailed its men to recover the Evangel University official bus parked at Rev Paul Emeka’s residence, stating that they were merely executing the Supreme Court judgment. When contacted on phone at the time of filing this report, Rev Emeka confirmed that he was yet to return to his official residence owing to the invasion of his house last Friday by police men sent from Zone 9, Umuahia
