FCT RTEAN chairman promises transparency

The newly elected chairman of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alh Musa Sa’du Zuba, has promised to be transparent in running the affairs of the association.

Zuba made the promised Tuesday shortly after his swearing in along with executive members of the body at the RTEAN national secretariat, Abuja.

Zuba emerged FCT RTEAN chapter chairman with other executive officers to lead the association in the nation’s capital for a period of five years in line with the association’s constitution.

In a chat with Blueprint shortly after the swearing in, he promised to ensure that law and order are maintained in the FCT chapter of RTEAN, and pledged to collaborate with the government to  sensitise its members on the rules of engagement, saying “our union believes in progress and sustenance of peace at all times.”

“My plan in FCT is to ensure that we maintain law and order, collaborate with the government and sensitize our members to abide by the rules of the association as enshrined in the constitution. We are to maintain peace, progress and development of Nigeria and not to cause violence,” he explained.

The chairman maintained that his executive and members would ensure that passengers in FCT are given deserved services, even as he added that they would improve upon the welfare of all.

He applauded the present administration for execution of most of the federal projects, and appealed to them to continue to fix the road network which would go a long way in giving Nigerians their deserved services in the transport sector.

Deputy President (Admin), Alh Mohammed A. Bishara, who represented the national president, Alh Musa Mohammed, advised the newly elected officials to work as a team to improve on transportation sector in Nigeria.

Correcting an impression from some people who see transporters as touts, he said transportation is the mover of economy and should be recognised as such.
