FAAN assures  airlines on safety, commends workers

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured airlines and stakeholders in the country’s aviation industry of its continuous efforts to safeguard their operations and safety of equipment.

Managing Director of FAAN, Mr. Kabir Mohammed Yusu, said the security of aerodrome remains topmost in his administration’s agenda to improve the state of the nation’s airports infrastructure alongside the welfare of personnel who work behind the scene to ensure safety.

Kabir, who spoke at the FAAN 2023 Safety Week Celebration in Lagos with the theme: ‘Promoting staff working behind the scenes for aviation safety’ affirmed that safety is the key component of the industry, and those who work backstage to ensure that there is zero harm, and zero casualties must be lauded.

FAAN, he said, will continue to support the activities of the safety services team as part of its commitment to ensuring a customer-centric experience and constantly test the management ability in handling security related situations.

FAAN general manager, Safety Department, Mr. Nath Mc Abraham Inajo, said the event provided the agency the avenue to look at several aspects of aviation safety and see how FAAN have managed the very critical activity being driven by those who the public do not see and celebrate.

He said, “The idea is to sensitise our stakeholders about the importance of safety and to also let them know that to give them that comfort that we’re doing something to ensure that their flights are safe. You know, aviation is not successful without the confidence of the traveling public.”
