FA Elections: Talle’s appeal lacks merit – Bamgboye

A chairmanship aspirant for the FCT FA elections, Godwin Bamigboye, has vehemently warned against annulment of the polls and declared that any attempt to manipulate the elections will be disastrous for the nation because stakeholders are ready to stamp their foot on ground and will not allow any group of individuals to truncate a ‘free and fair polls’

Last Thursday in Kuje, Adam Mouktar Mohammed swept past incumbent Musa Talle 11-4 to emerge as the new FA boss in the Federal Capital Territory.

However, an appeal by Talle was heard on Monday in Abuja amid rumours that some top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are very much uncomfortable with the emergence of the new chairman and are keen in ‘annulling’ the elections.

Bamigboye, who contested against Talle eight years ago, maintained that even though he complained about the processes leading up to the elections, the event itself was free and fair and stakeholders will resist any attempt to overturn the will of the people.

“Besides my complaint about the process leading to the election, the polls were free and fair and the Abuja football family spoke very loud and clear,” Bamigboye said.

“The stakeholders spoke loud and clear and so the resounding result 11-4 in favour of Mouktar Mohammed.

“I will therefore advise Talle to toe the path of honour by conceding defeat and going ahead to congratulate the winner.

“I did the same when I contested against Talle eight years ago.

“He asked for my support and I gave him for us all to come together and grow football in the FCT.”

He added: “In the interest of football in Abuja, we now have to move on.

“No one, no matter how powerful he thinks he is, will come to impose anybody on us because we are too enlightened for such.”

Bamigboye was equally dismissive of the appeal by Talle hinged on allegations that the new chairman is a players intermediary.

“His allegations hold no water and there should be no manipulations,” he said.

“ FCt is a micro-Nigeria ,convergence of Nigerians. We are host to the NFF. We need to be different from other mushroom . We cannot be gag or muzzle down by repressive forces”

“ As a leader in FCT football family is solicit for peace” Bamgboye concluded.

Speaking in the same vein, Barrister Victoria Nlemigbo insisted that Talle’s appeal has no locus standi and cannot stand the sand of time. He did not include any document to backed the appeal. She called on the Appeal Committee to throw out the protest based on flimsy excuse .
