Equity market gains N48bn

Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday opened week in positive trend, gaining N48 billion.
Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.36 per cent to N13.383 trillion from N13.335 trillion reported on Friday. Also the NSE All Share Index appreciated by 130.81 basis points to 36947.10 points from 36816.29 traded the previous day. Investors traded 314.428 million shares worth N7.033 billion in 6016 deals against 516.832 million shares valued at N7.195 traded in 5031 deals on Friday.
The result showed that Nigerian Breweries led gainers table for the day, improving by N3.00 to close at N106.00, Guaranty Trust Bank followed with a gain of N1.75 kobo to close at N40.40 kobo, Mobil Oil added N1.50 kobo to close N166.00, Zenith International Bank increased by N0.50 kobo to close at N26.00, FBNHoldings advanced by N0.35 kobo to close at N10.50 kobo
On the contrary, Presco Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, shedding N3.75 kobo to close at N71.25 kobo, International Breweries trailed with a loss of N1.20 kobo to close at N39.00, PZ Industries declined by N1.05 kobo to close at N20.80 kobo, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc down by N1.00 to close at N30.10 kobo while Cadbury Nigeria Plc sheds N1.00 to close at N11.50 kobo.
A review of the transactions showed that Guaranty Trust Bank of the banking industry was the most active stock during the day, trading 67.156 million shares worth N2.681 billion, Sovereign Trust Insurance followed with account of 33.014 million shares valued at N8.888 million, FBNHoldings Plc traded 19.598 million shares cost N202.206 million, Diamond Bank Plc exchanged 17.313 million shares cost N23.698 million while Zenith international Bank sold 15.127 million shares valued at N385.693 million.
