Embrace agriculture, Wada charges Kogites

Kogi state Governor, Captain Idris Wada, has charged the people of the state to embrace agriculture as a business to ensure food security and economic prosperity.
Wada gave charge at the weekend in Adogo, headquarters of Ajaokuta local government area during his official visit to the council.
The governor said that his administration has focused on agriculture because of its potentials to create jobs and improve the lives of the people.

He pointed out that his administration had domesticated federal government agricultural transformation agenda which he said have yield positive result with the ongoing establishment of staple crop processing zone at Alape in Kabba-Bunu local government area.
Wada expressed appreciation to the people of Ajaokuta for the warm reception accorded him, assuring that government would not relent in its effort to improve electricity in the area.

Earlier, the chairman of the council, Hon. Aloysius Okino, in his speech, said the foremost challenge facing the local government is the inability of the council to pay full salary to its staff due to the huge workforce and the dwindling funds from federation account as well as lack of capacity in revenue generation.

Okino, who is also the chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, however, appealed to the governor for the completion of Unosi -Patesi township road, upgrading of Adogo cottage hospital to general hospital, resuscitation of Ajaokuta Steel Company and rehabilitation of Ajaokuta -Okene road among others.
