Eid-el-Maulud: Plateau lawmaker Aliyu harps on peace, unity

As hundreds of thousands of Muslims, thronged major streets of Jos in celebration of Eid-el-Maulud, the member representing Jos North constituency in Plateau State House of Assembly, Adamu Aliyu has harped on peace and tranquility amongst citizens of the state.

He made the statement at the 54th edition of Eid-el-Maulud held at the Jos Wrang Pam township stadium.

“Today, we are back here and celebrating Eid-el-Maulud at the stadium after about 14 years, and we are here because there is peace.

“I urge all of us to continue to work for peace and peaceful living amongst us. We need tranquility to sustain the peace so that we can collectively develop,” he said.

Hon Aliyu said the period of Eid-el- Maulud is time for the Muslims to always remember the virtues of the Prophet’s forgiveness, love and compassion to all and sundry.

“He was an absolute man of peace that loves everyone, shown compassion to people irrespective of creed or ethnic differences. So, as we gather in celebration of his birth, the celebration should go beyond the gathering, but to put into practice all of his virtues,” he admonished.
