Immediate past chairman of Kuje area council and PDP aspirant for the House of Representatives comprising Kuje, Abaji, Gwgwalada and Kwali Federal constituency in the FCT, Hon.(Dr) Danladi Etsu Zhin, has said that impact of the huge sums being spent by the present administration on education “may not be felt until about 60 years of PDP reign,” stressing that education “is the best form of poverty alleviation in any society.”
Zhin stated this at a dinner and award night organised by Nigerian Universities Education Student Association (NUESA), University of Abuja chapter, in Gwagwalada area council Abuja.

He said as long as he remained a member of the PDP, he would never compromise the education programme of President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said he believed in the concrete development of the youth through qualitative education, adding that some political opponents called the youth “leaders of tomorrow,” but still turned round to frustrate the education sector “which is targeted at the youth.”
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values, Sarah Jibril, said the only legacy parents could give to their children was sound education.

She said the youth could be empowered through sound education and their good involvement in political activities as well as embarking on various projects that could be of benefit to them.
Jibril urged the graduating students to give recognition to women to enable them contribute to nation building for the good of every Nigerian, and charged them to always dress modestly.

Earlier, the Head, Professional Regulation, Department of Operations, Teachers Regulation Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Dr Jacinta Ezeahurukwe, who represented the Director, Professional Operations, TRCN, and Director, Operations, African Forum of Teaching Regulatory Authority, Dr Steve Nwokeocha, said many people had considered teaching to be a quasi or semi-profession “because of the fact that most teachers are relatively paid less salary than other renowned professions like law, medicine and engineering, etc.”
