Economic hardship: Kano government mulls mega relief programme

The Kano state government has announced its preparation to launch a mega relief program that will penetrate to all nooks and crannies of the state to cushion the pain currently faced by citizens of the state as a result of economic hardship bedeviling Nigeria.

The state governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,  stated this Wednesday at the flag-off ceremony of the distribution of food baskets of relief items donated by King Salman Humanitarian Relief Centre of Saudi Arabia to 2056 vulnerable households across eight metropolitan LGAs of the state.

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, at the ceremony, described the gesture as a timely as it coincides  with a moment when citizens, the poor and less privileged,  are struggling with the economic hardship, especially in this holy month of Ramadan where demands for consumables are highly needed.

This was contained in a statement issued by the deputy governor’s spokesman, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, shortly after the flag-off event held at Maganda Road (Gidan Hatsi), Nassarawa LGA Kano state.

Garba said Deputy Gwarzo revealed that the gesture by King Salman is the third in two years.

“Last year at this same period, similar donations to 500 households were received and immediately after this administration took over the helm of affairs of the state, we also received donation for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and other vulnerable,” he said.
