Easter: Keep hope alive, FCT SWAN tells members, others

The leadership of  the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), FCT chapter has asked its members and indeed the entire Christian community to remain steadfast and put their total trust in God despite the prevailing circumstance of Covid-19 globally.

In a special Easter message on Sunday via a statement signed by SWAN Secretary Ikenna Okonkwo, Chairman of the association, Comrade Ndubueze Chidoka, reminded Christian faithful that the death and eventual resurrection of Jesus Christ was an indication that victory is always assured no matter the challenges of life.

While felicitating with all media professionals especially sport writers, Comrade Chidoka enjoined members to pray and remain optimistic that the deadly pandemic would soon be defeated just as Jesus Christ conquered the shackles of death forever.

He said, “Dear Sports Writers, my heart is with us at this critical time. I know its not been easy staying indoors. The present time is for a moment. As a leadership, we have never relaxed without reaching out effectively. I believe that things are already getting better.

“However, I believe that this is one period that requires us all as colleague to dwell much in prayers for ourselves and our country.

“I call on all Nigerians, especially Christians, to as a matter of responsibility pray fervently at this time for God to bring an end to the COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the world. The current global pandemic (Covid-19) knows no borders; but we must continue to hold on to our faith, hope and love more than ever before.

“At this critical time in our history, we must not only cry to God or get closer to Him, we must keep trusting even as we observe strict guidelines till the coast gets clear completely.

“Let us not forget to keep close contact with each other.”

Chidoka also enjoined members to endeavour to engage in keep fit exercise in their their busy schedule at home.
