Domestic equity sheds N28bn

Domestic stock market closed on a negative note yesterday, shedding N28 billion as profit taking activities persist in the market.

Market capitalisation of listed equities declined by 0.10 per cent to N26.740 trillion from N26.768 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also depreciated by 51.79 basis points to 49575.93 points from 49627.72 points reported on Tuesday.

Investors traded 197.457 million shares valued at N2.942 billion in 3462 deals against 160.243 million shares worth N1.487 billion in 3847 deals.

A review of transactions during the day showed that Regal Insurance led gainers table during the day, gaining 8.00 per cent to N0.27, ABC Transport followed with a gain of 7.14 per cent to N0.30, Japaul Gold gained 3.70 per cent to N0.28, Livestock Feeds added 3.60 per cent to N1.15, Honey Well Flour increased by 3.00 per cent to N2.40.

Conversely, FTNCocoa Plc topped losers chart during the day, declining by 9.38 per cent to N0.29, Chams Plc trailed with a loss of 9.09 per cent to N0.30, Wapic Insurance down by 5.26 per cent to N0.36, Cutix Plc fell by 4.87 per cent to N2.15, AIICO Insurance dropped by 3.51 per cent to N0.55.

The result further showed that Courtvellle Business Solutions was the toast of investors during the day, exchanging 87.144 million shares valued at N40.911 million, Zenith Bank followed with account of 18.250 million shares cost N360.257 million, GTCO Plc exchanged 9.482 million shares cost N187.388 million, Cornerstone Insurance traded 9.354 million shares valued at N5.704 million while Sterling Bank sold 7.791 million shares cost N11.698 million.
