Dangote foundation dissociates from empowerment scheme

The Dangote Group has described as fraudulent a scheme said to be circulating on WhatsApp and social media titled ‘2021 Dangote Empowerment’ purporting to be sanctioned by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.

A statement from the organization Thursday said, “Please note that this initiative is a scam aimed at defrauding unsuspecting people and we strongly advise that you disregard such communications.

“While we work towards shutting down the activities and accounts of these scammers, please be advised to contact the law enforcement agency in case you have made contact with these scammers,” the statement added.

In another development, a new state-of-the-art health facility donated by the Dangote Cement Plc in Kogi state has been described as a ‘milestone’ by the Chairman, Lokoja Local Government Area (LGA).

Speaking at the commissioning and handover ceremony Thursday, the Chairman, Lokoja LGA, Alhaji Muhammad Danasabe Muhammad said: “Today is another milestone in Iwaa, for considering health services as priority to this community.”

The Chairman, who chronicled the interventions of Dangote Cement Plc in the State, said the Company had in partnership with Lokoja Local Government equipped the Obajana Primary Health Care Centre constructed by the LGA with modern medical equipment and drugs then.

While expressing the State’s appreciation to Dangote Cement Plc, the Chairman, who was represented by the Council’s Secretary, Hon. Umar B. Muhammad said: “Furthermore, the same Company had built a full standard Primary Health Care Centre in Oyo Community and equipped it with necessary medical facilities.”

Speaking, the traditional leader of Iwaa, HRH Oba Francis O. Migbole described the construction and the commissioning as the act of God, adding that it is only God that can reward Alhaji Aliko Dangote for the health facility.
