Danagogo, Maigari, Pinnick others face prison trial

Form 49 served on all parties already – Arzard

Minister of Sports, Dr. Tammy Danagogo will lead a two-digit list of persons including former NFF President Aminu Maigari and the new President of his faction, Amaju Pinnick who have been charged with contempt of court by the Federal High Court, Jos.
Also charged with the offence are the Secretary General of the Federation, Musa Amadu.
The Plateau state Football Association which was served for itself and all the football associations in the country, including the Federal Capital Territory, will lead the chairmen to show why that court should not convict them to prison for breaching her orders.
The contempt charge, which was signed by the Registrar of court, Mr A. Bawa, was brought against the defendants in the suit following last Tuesday’s conduct of NFF board’s election in Warri, Delta, in defiance of the eight orders of the court stopping the exercise.
The notice of the charge was pasted on the main door of the NFF in Abuja on Friday evening.
Vice Chairman of the Chris Giwa-led faction of the NFF board, Chief Obinna Ogba and another board member, Yahaya Adama, obtained the injunction from the high court restraining the Maigari-led faction from holding the 20th September 2014 extraordinary Congress and 30th September 2014 elective congress.
The defendants shunned the court order. Chairman of the Delta Sports Commission, Amaju Pinnick, was elected the new factional President.
However, the court notice directed the defendants to ensure that they appeared in person in court on the 8th October 2014 “and show reason why they should not be committed to prison”.
“Take notice that the plaintiff will on 8th October 2014 at the hour of 9. O’clock apply to this Court for an Order for your committal to prison,” the notice read in part.
“This is for disobeying the Order of this Court made on 19th September 2014, enjoining and restraining you jointly and severally from convening or holding a general assembly or extraordinary general assembly.
“Also, for holding election into the board of the NFA pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in this case.”
Counsel to the plaintiffs, Habila Arzard in a telephone confirmation told www.gongnews.net that all the defendants in the matter have been served Form 49 which is a court process for them to report physically in court to show reason why that court should not commit them to prison for not obeying Her Orders.
