Cult clash: 1 dead, 2 suspects arrested in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a suspected cultist and arrest of two others in Ajegunle area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Saturday.

According to him, at about 3.30 a.m. on Friday, the Ajegunle Police Division received a distress call about the clash.

He said some hoodlums suspected to be rival cultists from Nasamu and Iyalode streets, Ajegunle, engaged themselves in a free for all fight.

Hundeyin said that the suspected cultists damaged six commercial vehicles at Boundary Roundabout, Ajegunle.

“Based on the report, teams of policemen swiftly mobilized to the scene to dislodged the suspects.

“On sensing the arrival of the police, the hoodlums abandoned their mission and took to the heels. The police combined the scene in search of the suspects.

“Two of the hoodlums were later arrested at their hideout. one other suspect named Kamiku, 25, who was seriously injured during the clash, was rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment, where he later died,” Hundeyin said.

The image maker said that normalcy has been restored to the affected areas, and personnel have been deployed to forestall any further threat of law and order.

He said investigation was ongoing, while efforts were on to arrest other fleeing suspects.
