Court slams N120m fine on 16 sacked Plateau PDP lawmakers

The Court of Appeal, Abuja division,  during the week dismissed a fresh suit filed the 16 members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau state House of Assembly, seeking for the review of the court judgement that sacked them.

The court also ordered each of the 16 applicants to pay the sum of eight million naira, to the respondents.

The applicant counsel, Garba Pwul, SAN, had asked the court to adjourn the matter, but respondent’s counsels objected.

The Court of Appeal had on 24th November, 2023, nullified the election of the 16 lawmakers and ordered the return of the 15 runners up of the APC and one of the Labour Party. However, the speaker, Gabriel Dewan, refused to swear them in.
