Justice Peter Lifu of a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun state, has remanded two accused in Ile-Ife prison for unlawful possession of 107kilogrammes of narcotic drug.

The accused, Akanni Kenny and Abidoye Obafemi, were arraigned on Wednesday by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The prosecutor, Mr Ogaga Azugo, alleged that the accused had in their possession 107.87kilogrammes of cannabis sativa similar to cocaine LSD, heroine and without lawful authority.

He alleged that the accused also transported the cannabis with their Toyota Camry car with registration number Ondo AKR 113 AE

According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences contravened sections 19 and 20(1)(A) of the NDLEA Act, Cap 30, laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The prosecutor alleged that the accused committed the purported crime on August 24, 2019 at Ipetu-Ijesha in Oriade Local Government Area of the state.

Counsel to the accused, Mr. N. O. Benson, urged the court to grant his clients bail in a liberal term. He said they have spent more than one week in the custody of the NDLEA.
