The presidential candidate of National Action Council (NAC) at the 2019 general elections, Dr Olapade Agoro, Tuesday asked the United States of America to apologise to Nigerians within 14 days for calling Nigerians names over “disputable recovery of USD$5 billion Abacha looted fund.”
Dr Agoro in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan, faulted the US government’s claim that the said fund were purportedly looted by late General Abacha, saying, “what facts are there presentable to the whole universe by the US government that the allegedly recovered Abacha loots were in fact owned and saved in the Western world covers?”
Agoro stated further that:”The US and other western world financiers need to come out clean with undisputable facts of details of those who saved the $5 billions for General Abacha in the covers of western banks.”
“This became necessary, considering the fact that General Abacha throughout the five years he was head of state never for once travelled out of the shores of this nation to open the just too many foreign banks accounts.
“US government owes it a must-duty to apologise for evil name calling of we Nigerians because of disputable recovery of USD5billion Abacha looted fund. This is hereby giving the US government 14 days notice warning to apologise publicly in at least three Nigerian newspapers for evil name calling when they said it was to ‘ensure the money not re-stolen again in Nigeria’ and with a threat that it will recover it back from Nigeria,” he said.
