Clark reaffirms belief in Nigeria’s unity

ClarkAn elder statesman and delegate to the on-going national conference, Chief Edwin Clark, has reaffirmed his belief in the oneness and unity of Nigeria where peace and equality of the citizens are guaranteed.

the country as great, Clark, who was speaking in Abuja at the weekend after receiving an award as one of the icons of democracy, stated that the country of his dream is where people would stay together and develop at their own pace.
According to the elder statesman from the Niger Delta, such state of affairs in the country should be devoid of envy and acrimony.

He stated that at 87 he feels very strong attributing his strength to have come from God saying that a free mind devoid of evil thoughts would definitely be strong.
Clark said as a man who started politics in the 1950s and had held several positions as commissioner for nine years as well as federal minister in the cabinet of Gen. Yakubu Gowon said Nigeria was growing but people were trying to play down the achievements made by the country.

He also disclosed that he was the secretary of the City Vanguard when he was in London and functioned as a member of the Shagari’s National Party of Nigeria (NPN).
The Niger Delta politician stated that Nigeria had a lot to gain from and called on the press not to run the country down while calling on the youths to be patient, patriotic and eschew all forms of violence to enable them assume leadership roles.
On the award given to him, Clark described it as fantastic and great honour done to him saying that such honour would inspire him to work more for the country.
The award was organised and attended by many of the delegates at the ongoing national conference.
