Christian, Muslim youths sue for peace

An inter-faith based organisation, Christians and Muslim Youth Forum, has called on Nigerians to be in the vanguard of peaceful co-existence in the country.
It made the call at the weekend in Abuja during the conferment of an award on Dr. Jemil Mohammed Katsina for his exemplary leadership in peace building in Nigeria.

According to the association’s president, Uztaz Yusuf Ibrahim, “Dr. Katsina has shown an unwavering commitment to the ideals of peaceful co-existence and unity among the youths of the country.”

He described the honouree as “a messenger of peace and ethnic tolerance,” saying: “Today, Dr. Katsina is being conferred with the Exemplary Leadership Award for Excellence by the Leadership of Christians and Muslims Youths Forum.”

Responding, katsina thanked the group for the honour, and pledged to collaborate with them in fostering peace initiatives in the country.
Addressing journalists at the event, the group condemned the ill-fatediImmigration recruitment exercise and called on President Goodluck Jonathan to bring the perpetrators to justice.
It further condemned the recent killings in Katsina and Kaduna states, and pledged to work with the federal government towards the actualisation of peace in the country.

The occasion was attended by dignitaries from across the country including Maj. Gen John Edokpayi (rtd) and Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki as well as Chief Patrick Idiaghe.
