Grammy-winning singer Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has expressed his frustration with Nigerian bloggers, saying he is considering hiring 100 lawyers to sue them for defamation.
In a post on his social media platform, Burna Boy wrote in Pidgin English, “Dat money wey I wan give dem Instablog dat time, e be like say na to give like 100 lawyers now.” This translates to “The money I wanted to give those Instagram bloggers, it seems like I should give it to 100 lawyers now.”
Burna Boy had previously offered to give money to Nigerian bloggers in exchange for them stopping posting about him. However, he now says that he is reconsidering this offer and is instead considering suing the bloggers for defamation.
“But I know say na hustle everybody dey hustle so e go pain me if I run dat kind tin,” Burna Boy wrote. “Why una dey push me na ?” This translates to “But I know that everyone is hustling so it will hurt me if I do that. Why are you pushing me?”
