Bauchi NBA chair aspirant, Gambo promises laws reform, good representation

An aspirant for the chairmanship of the Bauchi State branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Barrister Safiyanu Gambo Idrees, has pledged to work towards ensuring the establishment of a law reforms commission in the state if elected.

Gambo made this known in his 2023 NBA 2023 elections campaign manifesto, and explained that the similarly commission has been established in some neighbouring states such as Kano and Plateau states.

The aspirant said he will work within the confined rules of the NBA Constitution to promote its aims and objectives as well as ensure its integrity and independence.

He also vowed to provide a modern Bar centre in the state, ensure continuing legal education, collaboration with other bodies and organizations as well as promotion of rule of law and human rights.

He added that if elected, he will ensure a collaboration with the office of the Attorney General of the state to ensure that indigent clients are fully represented by counsel at the expense of the government.

“Under my watch, the Bauchi Bar will work towards the passage of a Bill for the Establishment of the Bauchi State Law Reforms Commission as is the case in our neighbouring states of Kano, Plateau and others in the country to ensure a more up-to-date legal regime in our jurisdiction. In keeping with section 3(5) which provides: “Promotion and support of law reform.”
