Bauchi: Jama’are LG buys drugs for diphtheria treatment

The caretaker committee chairman of Jama’are local government council in Bauchi state, Inuwa Abdullahi Moisha, has said the Council had procured drugs for treatment of not less than 100 patients affected by diphtheria in the area.

Moisha, who said this Friday when he visited the patients at Jama’are General Hospital, disclosed that the procurement of the drugs and engagement of health personnel by the Council was part of efforts to ensure effective treatment of the disease.

He said the Council had since provided a special treatment centre of diphtheria disease in Jama’are General Hospital that would cater for not only the people of the area, but for use by the people of Bauchi north in general.

Moisha gave the assurance that the Council would continue to work with relevant health organisations to ensure that drugs for treatment of diphtheria were procured.

He appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for his prompt response to support the local government in the provision of the solution to the disease
