Banditry: Buratai launches Exercise Sahel Sanity in N/West

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, Monday launched the Exercise Sahel Sanity operation to mitigate banditry in the North-west.

Speaking during the formal flagging off of the exercise held at Special Super Power Camp 4, in Faskari town, the headquarters of Faskari local government area of Katsina state, the COAS said the exercise will cover Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Zamfara states.

“The exercise will be conducted in partnership with all sister security agencies to repel all criminals wherever they are in the North-west,” Buratai said.

Buratai further commissioned 10 locally made Mine Resistant Ambush Protecter Operational Vehicles (Conqueror), manufactured in the country and handed over  to the troops of Exercise Sahel Sanity.

Buratai ordered for 20 additional Mile Resistant Ambush Protected Operational Vehicles to fight banditry and criminal activities in the country.
