The governor gave the advice Thursday during the swearing in ceremony of the 2019 Batch C, stream one Corps members posted to the state.

Represented by the state Head of civil service Ahmed Abubakar Ma’aji, the governor pointed out that NYSC has remained ‘ a melting pot’ for harnessing the socio-economic and cultural endowments of youth as well as enhances the collective efforts at national integration and growth.

“It is therefore expected that as leaders of tomorrow, you would work hard towards realizing the lofty ideals of the founding fathers of the scheme by breaking language barriers, involving yourselves in inter-ethnic marriages and getting accustomed to the norms, values and traditions of your host communities,” he advised them.

The governor promised that the state government would award contract for the provision of additional infrastructures in the NYSC camp in Wailo community including a 5000 capacity multi-purpose hall and administrative block before the end of the year.

Earlier in his speech, the state NYSC coordinator Shehu Bashir explained that at the close of registration, a total of 1, 627 Corps members including 830 males and 797 females were registered at the camp.

He appealed to the state government to reconnect the camp to the national grid in order to enhance the security of the camp and take off the extra financial burden placed on ‘ the lean resources of the scheme’ revealing that the camp depends solely on generators for light.
