Audu condemns Kogi killings, calls for enhanced security 

 The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has condemned the recent killings in two communities of Abejukolo and Agojeju Odo, in Omala local government area of Kogi state.

Prince Audu in a statement condemned the incident as signed by his special assistant on media, Lizzy Okoji, Saturday in Abuja.

He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased killed in the most gruesome manner.

Audi appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the governor of Kogi state, Governor Usman Ododo, to enhance security in the communities of the state and intervene in any dispute that must have led to the incident.

He further called for an investigation into the incident so that the perpetrators of the heinous crime can be brought to justice in order to serve as deterrent to others.

The statement reads, “I condemn in strong terms the recent killings in Agojeju Odo, and Abejukolo communities of Kogi-east which left over 19 people dead. This is unacceptable and should not be allowed to continue.

“My heartfelt condolences also go to the families of those who were killed in the most cruel manner. I also commiserate with the governor of the state, Alhaji Usman Ododo, at such a sad moment.

“I want to appeal to the Inspector General of Police to take swift action in investigating this crime to bring the perpetrators to book to serve as a deterrent to others. It is also very important to resolve all issues that led to the unfortunate incidence so that peace and normalcy can return to the communities.”
